Focus: Follow Peace With All Men (Part 2)
Ministered by Pastor Donnette Norman

God's peace is a relationship of fellowship with Him that leads us to intentionally live in love and seek peace with others.  When we look at peace from God's perspective, it goes beyond simply having no arguments or problems. God gives us peace even in the minds of hardships; a peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Many of us face difficult situations at work, at school and at home.  We also  encounter challenges in our relationships with  friends, family, neighbors and others, where maintaining peace can often seem difficult, but Jesus came to change this by proclaiming true peace. When we walk in true peace, there is absence of  strife with God and we do not stir up strife with the people around us. God's peace in us is freedom from the bondage and distress associated with sin.

God's desire has always been to establish peace among His people. (Isaiah 26:12)  By sending His Son, God made a way for mankind to be restored to Him, because sin had separated us from Him.  When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and receive the Holy Spirit, God places His nature of peace within us (Romans 5:1–2).

Through the Beatitudes, Jesus showed us the importance of being peacemakers. He understood that for us to truly become people of peace, something had to change on the inside. Peace first had to be placed within our hearts (which is done when we receive the Life of Christ at Salvation).
Jesus is more than a peacemaker or the Prince of Peace, Jesus IS Peace.
In Ephesians 2:14–18, the Apostle Paul tells us that Christ is our Peace.

Sadly, some Christians still struggle to live in peace. Often, this happens because they are not walking in obedience to God's Word, so the peace He has given them is not being reflected in their lives.

A good question to ask ourselves is, " Am I truly at peace with God and with the people around me?" Our peace is tested every day, but it is our responsibility to pursue it by obeying God's Word (Hebrews 12:14–15).

The peace the world offers is very different from the peace God gives. The world's peace is based on circumstances, so it changes when situations change. God's peace, however, remains steady because it is rooted in His presence and His promises, not in what is happening around us.

If you have not accepted Christ, I encourage you to repent and give your life to Him. True peace can only be found in God. He gives the peace that passes all understanding, no matter what you may be facing. The peace this world offers will never be enough, but the peace that comes from God will restore your heart.
If you have accepted the Life of Christ, I encourage you to choose each day to live in this Peace; you will receive eternal rewards.
"Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."
