Follow Peace With All Men (Part 3)
Ministered by Jermaine Johnson
Peace is not optional - it is the command of God for His people. Peace is both a lifestyle and a spiritual discipline. In adverse situations, chains fall, and wars are settled when God's peace manifests. The presence of the Holy Spirit brings movement, freedom, and glory, shifting atmospheres and disarming strife.
📖 Romans 12:17-19 - Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
As children of God, we must resist the temptation to retaliate. Evil cannot be answered with evil, but instead honesty and righteousness must be evident before all men, even those who oppose us. This is where God dwells - in the place where His children refuse to repay evil with evil.
📖 Hebrews 12:14-15 - Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.
To truly see the Lord, we must walk in peace and holiness; they are both inseparable.
We must ensure that we exercise diligence because if we do not, bitterness will spring up, trouble us and defile many. Bitterness spreads like wildfire, poisoning families, friendships, and communities. The antidote is the intentional pursuit of peace and holiness.
📖 Matthew 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Being a peacemaker is the highest honor - it is God's seal of approval. Titles fade, but being called a child of God surpasses every earthly recognition. As believers, we must lay down weapons of strife, including the tongue, which Satan often uses to stir conflict. Instead, we must let our lips be purged and our hearts cleansed.
📖 Romans 5:1-2 - Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Peace begins vertically with reconciliation to God through Christ's sacrifice. From there, it flows inward as quiet confidence, even in tribulation, and outward in relationships with others.
📖 John 16:33 - In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Peace is not dependent on external serenity. Even in chaos, believers can laugh, rejoice, and remain calm because Christ has overcome. Guarding our hearts and minds through prayer, thanksgiving, and trust in God keeps us from anxiety, pride, and assumptions that destroy peace.
📖 Philippians 4:6-7 - Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
As you purgue peace, here are a few questions to reflect on and answer:
Are you walking in God's peace, or have roots of bitterness taken hold?
Will you surrender your weapons of strife and trust the blood of Jesus to reconcile and restore? The time is now; peace is God's gift, and following it is His command.
