Focus: Follow Peace With All Men (Part 4)
Ministered by Romario Mitchell
The introduction of sin by Adam caused humanity’s separation from God, resulting in a gulf between God and man and also disunion between people.
The only hope and cure for this condition is Salvation, which connects man to God. Fortunately God has made abundant provisions for this hope through Jesus Christ, who is Peace Himself.
Scripture speaks a lot about the peace Jesus gives us. This peace offers us freedom and deliverance from all distresses, including the oppression of sin, torment, pain, and anxiety. When we walk on this peace, there is absence of contention, strife, quarrelling, fighting, competition, and bitter disagreements from our hearts.
If anyone is bound and seeks to attain the peace of Christ, simply ask God for it. After blessing us with His peace, He expects us to be peacemakers, simply because He has enabled us, by His Holy Spirit, to follow peace with all men. He has given us Himself, inhabits us when we recieve His Holy Spirit and now has the legal rights to demand that we be peacemakers at all times.
The peace that God grants is able to keep us in all circumstances. It can take us throug every trial and is the same peace that kept Jesus, allowing Him to endure all of the horrid experiences that He faced when He suffered and died for our sins.
Some oppositions to us experiencing the Peace of God are:
- Our own debilitating thoughts. It is true that our own mindsets can block us from embracing the peace of God, whether it be worrisome thoughts, isolation, or other un-Christlike mentalities. In everything, we must ask ourselves, “Are these the thoughts of Christ?”
- Another common destructive mindset is believing that we are too far gone for God to rescue us. Whether it be that these thoughts come before we have encountered God or after our Salvation experience, they are always farthest from the truth.
Whatever the oppositions, God is calling for repentance. He wants us to develop holy habits, embrace His peace and walk in it consistently.
