Focus: The Record of Jesus, The Lion King
Ministered by Donnette Norman

While the world celebrates the iconic animated movie, the Lion King, all the more the Body of Christ must celebrate and revere Jesus, the true Lion King. He is the Lion of Judah, prophesied of in Genesis 49, from whom "the sceptre (of kingship) shall not depart", and the Prevailing Lion in Revelation 5:5, worthy to loose the seven seals of the book, unfolding God's end-time judgment.

He came to earth, born within the tribe of Judah. His mission was two-fold: to save mankind from the wrath of God, preparing them for eternity, and to establish a holy nation (His Judean priesthood on the earth - 1 Peter 2:9). This nation, His church, are those He delivers out of the darkness of sin and situates within the marvelous light of His kingdom.

While He holds supreme power and authority, He is so meek. The prophet Isaiah caught a glimpse of this prophesying that "the government shall be upon his shoulder" (Isaiah 9:6) and that He would be the Suffering Servant, despised of men (Isaiah 53), sadly, by His own people, the Jews.

Blinded by sin, they were offended at His words and ways, hence rejecting Him and scheming His death. Jesus fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy in becoming the lowly and perfect sacrifical lamb that was slain for mankind's sin. He who knew no sin became sin for us so we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Now God's testimony/record is this: eternal life is found only in Jesus (1 John 5:11-12). Those who receive His life (get saved) are made one with Him, able to manifest both His lion-like and lamb-like nature. It also makes them joint-heirs with Him, who must suffer with Him to reign with Him when He returns not as a fragile lamb, but the conquering Lion King.

Let us therefore regard His majesty highly in our hearts and lives, testifying of Him with boldness and truth. As we yield ourselves to Him in the spaces and situations God places us in, His Spirit will begin to roar from within.

The word instructs us not to store treasures on earth nor set our affections here (Matthew 6:19, Colossians 3:2). Doing this prevents us from witnessing God's power in us and makes us worthy of His coming wrath (Revelation 16).

Revelation 19 and 20 describe Jesus' grand return to the earth upon a white horse with His mighty army to slaughter the wicked, afterwhich His millennial - then eternal - reign on earth begins.

If you are not saved, and are already seeking Him, let nothing offend you or deter you from continuing. Believe that He will manifest Himself. If you haven't begun seeking Him, start now. The Lion King wants you to know Him intimately.
