Focus: The Record of Jesus, The Lion King (Part 2)
Ministered by Andrew Norman

In Revelation 5, John was brought to heaven to behold a book in the hand of the Ancient of Days. However, no one was worthy to open or even look at its content except the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, who prevailed over sin and death - Jesus Christ. In fact, the book held the record/testimony of Jesus, which was written from eternity, to be revealed in time.

Jesus is the Messiah and Redeemer foretold throughout the entire Old Testament. Every prophecy was God giving His prophets a glimpse into what's already recorded in eternity. John the Baptist was one such prophet, chosen to be Jesus' forerunner, proclaiming Him before the people as the Lamb of God who came to take away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

Having now been established in the minds of many as The Lamb, He will also reveal Himself as the Lion King. Upon His glorious return, we will see the scars in His hands and feet, the evidence of His sacrifice. He is not ashamed of them as He bore them as a love offering for us. We can pull a nugget of encouragement from Him: anything done out of loving obedience to God lasts forever.

By His obedience and having been established in a meek and lowly character when He walked the earth, He was entrusted with authority and worthy to judge the world as King of kings. His judgement, however, will not begin with the world but with His own Church, those chosen in Him before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).

Acts 15:18 declares that known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. His works are the children born of His Spirit. God recorded every single thing He would do from the beginning to the end. Within those records, He had chosen His son Jesus to be born in the lineage of David, the king of Israel. He had also determined that He would have more sons on the earth, produced through Jesus, and they would be holy and without blame, just like the firstborn.

Jesus's judgment of the church will purge and prepare them for His return. Only those who abide in His character will make it into His kingdom. Despite the great persecution that will come upon the Church and the nation of Israel by the Anti-Christ, God will preserve the righteous, just as He kept the people of Israel that wandered through the wilderness.

If you are saved but are not walking in righteousness, do not despise the Lord's rebuke. He only desires to restore you to fellowship. If you are not saved, Jesus desires to live and reign in your heart today as Savior and King. Will you accept Him?
