Focus: The Record of Jesus, The Lion King (Part 4)
Ministered by Tashema Drummond & Dr. Andrew James Jr.
Ministered by Tashema Drummond & Dr. Andrew James Jr.
Jesus is our Lion King and the King of the Universe. He came to earth as the Lamb that was slain to save us from our sins and to demonstrate to us true humility as well as the other characteristics of a Lion and King. Jesus has always been and always will be both the Lion and the Lamb in nature.
He is described as meek, meekness means to have power and authority under control.
Revelation 5:1-5
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Revelation 5:8-9
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

John 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they were spiritually separated from God and destined for death.
In the old covenant between the Jews and God, the Jews had to sacrifice a lamb for the remission of their sins. This process was repetitive and imperfect. It could not produce righteousness in the people.
Isaiah 53:6-8
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
God gave up His own Son/Lamb, Jesus Christ, who was a perfect, because by Him was the only way for people to walk in God's perfection. Jesus offered up His life for the salvation of many. He accepted the penalty of sin and took on the sting of death. He felt and paid the price of sins that He would never even dream of committing to provide an opportunity for the sinful humanity to be made righteousness of God in JesusChrist. (2 Corinthians) 5:21
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
His flesh was torn, His clothes were stripped from Him, and His body was broken in the most gruesome and horrid image imaginable to create a way for us to overcome sin.
After we accept Him as Saviour and Lord, He transforms us as we submit to Him so that we will no longer fall to the things that easily entangle us. He taught us how to live by His life: a life consistently surrendered to the will of God.
Matthew 5:38-48
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

He was a Lamb while He was on earth. He came as a servant. So why should we think that we are too big to do the same?
Philippians 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Additionally, some of us may think that it is impossible for us to suffer for Christ sake. On our own, that theory proves to be true; however, with Christ, the plan of God to enable humanity to live righteously comes to fruition. The goal of Jesus’ coming was accomplished and can be accomplished in you and me.
Furthermore, we should not embrace false doctrines, including the one that proclaims that once we are in the flesh, we cannot live holy. Jesus’ life disproved that.
God has endowed us with the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead and He wants to live through us. This includes Him roaring as the lion through us.
He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Thus, He has a “roaring authority”.
He wants us to reflect the totality of His character on the earth.
As aforementioned, as a Lamb, He is meek, selfless and peaceable. As Lion, He is strong, bold, and submitted to God (Proverbs 28:1, Proverbs 30:29-31).
Proverbs 30:29-31
There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going: A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.

Proverbs 28:1
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
This is God’s testament of Jesus.
1 John 5:11
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Jesus' authority comes from God as He pleases God.
John 17:1-2
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Additionally, it is imperative that we walk in the fullness of all that God has granted us as Jesus did. First, we cannot rule with Him unless we have suffered with Him as lambs. Second, God wants us to reveal the nature that He has given us to all who are around us. He does not want us to hide the treasures in earthen vessels.
A portion of this treasure is our roaring ability. This manifests itself as our ability to be obedient to God. Not loving people and not embracing the fruit of the Spirit restricts that.
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Some additional oppositions to walking in the character of Christ:
- Not being saved
- Pride
- Not denying self
- Fear
- Ignorance of who we really are in Christ
- Sin
